Join Stuart Butler, Katie McCue and others for an anti-fascist Walk and Talk in the Slad Valley, including the Laurie Lee Trail. Free to attend.
November 7th, 10am – Meet at Bull’s Cross (link to google maps).
We’ll be marking the 90th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War & the arrival of the International Brigades – including anti-fascists from the West Country. As well as talks on the history, there’ll be poetry, song, and we will read testimony from some of the local people who volunteered to fight fascism in Spain.
The walk will feature edited highlights from the play “No Pasaran!” produced by Stroud Football Poets and the Souled and Healed Choir – with Kostka Garcia and Keith Patterson. CDs will be available for donations.
The walk will end at The Woolpack Pub, at approximately 2.30pm.
The route is a fairly strenuous up and down walk. We expect to reach the Woolpack at approximately 2.30pm, though with a small group it might only take 3 hours. People are welcome to leave the walk at any time, of course.
Please car-share – there is limited parking.
Event organised by Radical Stroud, and supported by us at CSSD.
